CEI Ministers adopt "Trieste Declaration" on Science and Technology: Final Communique now online

The CEI Ministerial Meeting on Science and Technology, which took place on October 19, 2011 in Trieste (Italy) provided a platform of exchange regarding regional cooperation in S&T - with a focus on Research Infrastructures on the one hand and the proposal for a large-scale integrated and interdisciplinary project "Next Generation Biofuels" on the other hand.

The Trieste Declaration adopted at the CEI Ministerial Meeting on Science and Technology touches upon the need to increase investments in Research Infrastructures - addressing in particular Horizon 2020, the forthcoming EU Research and Innovation Programme. A network of Centres of Excellence focused on the topic of "next generation biofuels" shall also be established. The Central European Initiative has been mandated to identify potential donors and relevant stakeholders to attract possible means of financial support. The next meeting is to be held under the CEI presidency of Ukraine.
