EC Directorate General Research and Innovation under re-organisation
As reported by Science Business, the DG new structure will allow the Commission to better deliver R&I solutions for sustainable development. The objective is to establish an "agile, modern, cross-cutting administration, which really can elaborate policies and projects differently,” according to Jean-Eric Paquet, Director-General of DG Research and Innovation who is citied in the article.
The new organisation will establish three deputies primarily managing broad policy areas across the DG: Signe Ratso for "open innovation and international association", Wolfgang Burtscher for “science and policy transitions”, and Patrick Child for “implementation impact and sustainable investment strategies.” Current Director of Open Innovation & Open Science Jean-David Malo will lead a new task force established to run the European Innovation Council.
The reorganisation will be effective as of 1 June 2019.
