Widening participation recently discussed in Bucharest
Upon invitation by the Romanian Presidency, Research ministers met for an informal meeting in Bucharest on 3 April 2019. One of the topics discussed was the innovation divide between low R&I performing members states and more advanced EU members.
The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Research and Innovation, Nicolae Hurduc. The European Commission was represented by the European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, Carlos Moedas.The discussion aimed at identifying measures to increase and expand scientific excellence at the EU level as well as the scientific cooperation within the Black Sea Basin, and findingways to increase the degree of capitalization of the potential of scientific collaboration in this area.
Around 3,3 % of the budget for Horizon Europe will be dedicated to activities for widening the participation of low performing countries. The Romanian Presidency will hold a conference on sustainable development at the Black Sea on 8./9. May in Bucharest.
